Dr. Milton Demosthenous is a visiting professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of Frederick University of Cyprus (FUC).
He completed his Ph.D. at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in the field of earthquake engineering.
Since 1995, he works as researcher in various positions at the Institute of Engineering Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (ITSAK) in Thessaloniki.
In 2007 – 2010, he was director of the ITSAK; during the two last decades he was engaged in more than 30 research programs as coordinator or scientific supervisor. He also was visiting researcher and member of the International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering of Japan (IISEE) and visiting researcher at the Department of Geological Survey of Cyprus (GSD), where he worked for the development of the Accelerograph Network of Cyprus and the completion of the Microzonation Studies of Limassol and Paphos.
He published more than 120 scientific papers in international journals and proceedings of national and international conferences. His research interest is focused on the experimental and numerical investigation of the dynamic and earthquake response of structures, engineering seismology, assessment of damages after earthquakes, and rehabilitation of monuments and existing structures.
